Just had new carpet installed, shaw unique sensibility 2.It is a 78 oz. nylon. It was installed with 1/2 in.8 lb. pad. The problem is severe footprint marks and vacum marks. It looks like the surface of a beach immediately after walking on it. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and what can be done to rectify. It was installed yesterday. Any info or advice would be appreciated. thanks

Sounds like a normal 78 oz. carpet. They tend to show a lot of foot prints because the fibers are long and flatten or change direction.

Side match on commercial put pile and cut and loop products is notoriously lousy. Good to hear they're doing the right thing.

power stretching and indentations in the carpet Hi, Will power stretching do anything to lessen deep indentations from deep footprints and vacum wheel marks in a newly installed deep pile nylon carpet? thanks

Years ago I inspected an installation in a church for a side match problem. The room required 2 12' widths plus a 6' fill. There was a distinct problem at the seam between the 2 full widths, and a problem at part of the 6' fill. When I checked pile direction. I found one side appeared to be 1/4 turned. After further investigation, I found the yarn was distorted in 2 1/2 ' in on one side of the roll. Since the product was an olefin, steaming would not be an option. I think they replaced the job. Your carpet was supposed to be power stretched when installed. But to answer your question---probably not.It may help slightly but to no noticeable difference.

Mohawk may put out some bunk fuzz now and again, but they are top notch when it comes to customer service. Proven once again - their name is of more value than the profit from one job. Kudos Mohawk. Glad you got resolution Lew!
